Join the Peace Choir

◊ We are open for new members during the month of September, and at other times as needed. Rehearsals begin each new season on the 2nd Tuesday after Labor Day. In 2010, that's September 14. Our season runs until the end of May.

◊ We rehearse Tuesday nights from 7pm to 9pm in room 106, Central Presbyterian Church, at 15th and Patterson.

◊ We do not have auditions or try-outs. Our songs range from simple to complex, so that singing with us can be interesting to the most experienced, and yet allow the beginner solid participation while learning. Not everyone performs every piece.

◊ We welcome singers at all levels of experience and skill, music readers and those who learn music by ear, and people from all backgrounds. Children old enough to participate are welcome.

◊ Our tradition is open and democratic. Decisions are made in the fifteen minute announcement period at the end of rehearsals, with occasional times set aside for longer discussions if needed.

◊ Our director does music; choir administration and chores are undertaken by members. We expect our members to attend at least three fourths of the rehearsals, spend some time outside of rehearsal on the music, help us in some way with choir tasks, participate in performances as able, and, in general, bring your good heart and gift of song in support of social justice, environment, and peace.

◊ Dues are on a sliding scale, from $15 per month to whatever you want to pay.

◊ We have scholarships available on request if you find these dues a hardship. Help with childcare costs is also a possibility. We strongly feel that everyone should be able to participate in the Peace Choir irrespective of their financial situation. We get support form such sources as the Lane Arts Council and the Oregon Country Fair to help us in this goal.

◊ Feel free to join us at rehearsals in September. Prospective members have a month to try us out before they join.

◊ Please call Sybil at 344-7396 or Kathleen at 302-6418 for more information, or contact us through this website.
